Now that you are comfortable with The 5 Steps of EFT, this page will help you expand on example A regarding phobias and fears to provide you with broader application.

Self-help for Phobias and Fear
Recall that you started tapping in example A with this setup phrase:
“Even though I’m terrified of heights, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.”
Next, you tapped all the remaining points with the reminder phrase:
“terrified of heights”
Then, you may have gone on to describe more details such as:
"Even though I feel dizzy and get sick to my stomach when I think about being on the 81st floor, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.”
This may be as far as you will ever have to go to relieve a phobia/fear with EFT. However, if after tapping these rounds you find that you still have some intensity when you think about heights, try using a “BECAUSE” statement and fill in the blank with your “BECAUSE”:
"Even though I feel dizzy and get sick to my stomach when I think about being on the 81st floor, BECAUSE______________(I feel like I'm being pulled forward and I'll go right over the edge, I still deeply and completely love and accept myself.”
Check your intensity again. Pay special attention to your physical sensations. Do you feel pain, discomfort, numbness, are you yawning or feeling sleepy? These are signs that your energy is shifting.
The idea is to notice anything and everything that changes with each tapping round.
Describe any new or different sensations to yourself and make a new set up statement. An example of this might be:
“Even though I have this (shaky feeling in my knees and I my Mom’s voice keeps popping into my mind and I don't know why, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.”
At this point you may be thinking of a memory you hadn’t thought of for some time. (I remember my Mom calling out my name saying, “Call 911, your Dad fell from the roof and he’s hurt!”)
“Even though I remember my Mom’s voice when I was 8 years old telling me to call 911… and she sounded so scared, and I ran as fast as I could to get the phone, but I felt weak in the knees, but I still deeply and completely love and accept myself.”
Next, check your intensity again. Your intensity level should be 0 or 1 for the fear of heights if your setup statements were meaningful to you. If not, keep using new and more descriptive setups that feel right to you. Persistence pays off with EFT, so keep tapping everything that comes into your mind about the issue.

At this point, your fear of heights is probably gone. But you may notice a different emotion now. For example, you may notice feelings of sadness or guilt.
What now?
You guessed it, rate the intensity and tap on the sadness or guilt.
"Even though I feel sad because I think I disappointed my Mom... because I was scared and couldn't run fast enough to call 911, but I still deeply and completely love and forgive myself anyway."
"Even though I feel guilty because I was only 8 years old and I couldn't run fast enough to get the phone to call 911, but I still deeply and completely love and forgive myself anyway."
Check your intensity again for the sadness or guilt feeling.
EFT and Beliefs
Last, but certainly not least, consider what beliefs you may have adopted from situations like the one mentioned above. Did you unknowingly decide that being up high is always dangerous? Did you adopt a belief that says: Being up high means I have no control?
“Even though I believe that (being up high is always dangerous, OR, being up high means I have no control over anything, OR being up high could result in me feeling bad, guilty or sad), I still deeply and completely love and accept myself.”
Yawning is Good
EFT gently releases blocked energy. A feeling of fatigue, tiredness, heaviness or yawning usually indicates the energy around the phobia/fear is no longer disrupted. This is especially true if you have become disinterested in thinking about it.
When it comes to EFT, the possibilities are limitless. So, experiment. Get creative. Ask yourself questions and become your own energy detective. The rewards are limitless too.
