How can EFT help you with anger?

Blocked energy channels in the body often show up as negative emotions- in this case anger. Long-term or unresolved anger may lead you to soothe yourself with food and result in unwanted weight. EFT helps restore your flow of energy and release your excess anger or other troubling emotions.

These two audio sessions are designed to help you release the resistance of unnecessary self-directed anger.

#1 "I’m angry because… I let myself get this overweight."

Begin by assessing how you feel about this statement.

On a scale of 0-10 with 0 being no feeling at all and 10 being the worst this feeling has ever been, where do find yourself now?
Please jot the number down now. _____

EFT Round 1

Begin now by tapping the Karate Chop point on the side of your hand continuously and say the following statements out loud.

“Even though I’m so angry that I let myself get this overweight and I hate the way I look, I deeply and completely accept myself.”

“Even though I can’t believe I let myself get this heavy and I hate the way people stare at me, I deeply and completely accept myself.”

“Even though I’m so angry that I let myself get this overweight, why didn’t I control myself better, but I still deeply and completely accept myself.”

Eyebrow: I hate the way I look
Side of Eye: so angry at myself
Under Eye: I’m embarrassed about my body
Under Nose: I hate how out-of-control I feel
Chin: I can’t stand my body
Collarbone: I’m miserable being this big
Under Arm: I’m sad that I let myself go
Top of Head: I’m tired of being heavy

EFT Choices

Eyebrow: I choose to release my self-hatred
Side of Eye: I choose to release my embarrassment
Under Eye: I choose to accept every part of body
Under Nose: I choose to release my self-judgment
Chin: I choose to free myself from my self-hatred
Collarbone: I choose give up judging myself
Under Arm: I choose to feel good enough
Top of Head: I choose to accept every fat cell in my body

* Take a deep breath
* Sip some water
*Write down your intensity #__________

Notice any changes in your perception or awareness of the problem. Does it seem more intense? More distant? Stronger or weaker? More important or less important? Do you sense relief or a releasing of something?

Notice changes in your body. Does any part of your body hurt or feel better than before this round of tapping? Do you feel more relaxed? Are there other sensations like tingling? A gentle calming? Numbness? Warmth? Nausea or a calming in the stomach? Vision changes? Deeper breathing? A lighter, more free feeling?

If your changes are positive and your intensity has dropped to 0 or 1, it’s likely that you have resolved this issue because the blocked energy has been released.

If you are not at a 0 or 1, it means that you still have some intensity around this issue or some aspect of it, and more rounds will be needed to clear it from your energy channels. In this case, move on to Round 2.

EFT Round 2

Acceptance is key in releasing anger. It is only by giving up your resistance to loving yourself and accepting every part of yourself that the healing begins.

Tap the Karate Chop continuously.

“Even though I can’t accept myself as I am, I deeply and completely love and accept myself anyway.”

“Even though I keep wishing I had a different body to live in, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.”

“Even though I can’t escape my body, I still deeply and completely love and accept myself anyway.”

Eyebrow: can’t accept myself
Side of Eye: If I accept myself this way I’ll never change
Under Eye: hate my body
Under Nose: I’m trapped in my body
Chin: feel hopeless about my weight
Collarbone: can’t love myself this way
Under Arm: I’ll never be good enough
Top of Head: I’ve never been good enough

EFT Choices

Eyebrow: I choose to pretend that I accept myself
Side of Eye: I choose to want to change
Under Eye: I choose to appreciate my body in every way
Under Nose: I choose to accept every single fat cell in my body
Chin: I choose to accept myself as I am AND I choose to change only if I want to
Collarbone: I choose to love my body because I am wonderfully made
Under Arm: I choose to feel good enough
Top of Head: I recognize that I’ve always been good enough

* Take a deep breath
* Sip some water
*Write down your intensity #__________

Notice any changes in your perception or awareness of the problem and jot these down. Did any memories show up? Did any pictures form in your mind as you were tapping?

Now, use what you wrote down to decide what to tap on next. Create a new “Even though…” set up statement about your thoughts and any changes you experienced, then continue the tapping as we have just done.

Be aware of changes in the issue itself. For example, if before tapping you rated your anger at an 8 intensity and now it's about a 3, look for a shift into to a new aspect. Maybe you're not as angry about letting yourself get overweight but now you feel sad for the loss of your health or your youth. Your next set up statement could be something like this:

"Even though I feel so sad because I've wasted so much time being heavy, and I could have been doing___________with my life instead, I still deeply and completely love and forgive myself."

OR

"Even though I feel such a loss because food only comforts me temporarily, and I wish I would have looked for a differnt way to deal with my feelings, but I deeply and completely love and forgive myself anyway."

Trust your instincts and follow your intuition. Like most anything, you will get better and better at this the more you do it.
