Eating Raw Food Cleanses the Body





Raw food is food which has never been heated nor treated with chemicals so it retains the enzymes and nutrients of its natural state. As soon as a food is cooked or has added chemicals, the vitamins, nutrients, enzymes, and other healthy compounds start to change and may be destroyed- and the food no longer has the life and health-giving properties it once did.

A raw foodist is a person who consumes primarily living, uncooked food. Typically they believe that the greater the percentage of raw food in the diet, the greater the health benefits because raw foods allow the body to naturally detox and cleanse itself.

A Raw Food diet is generally made up of vegetables, fruit, nuts, seeds, sprouted seeds and grains, dried fruit and juices, rolled or flaked grains, herbs and spices. Some people add cooked grains and legumes, good quality fish and poultry (although a large number of “ foodists” are strict vegans). There are unlimited recipes and dishes which are made from these ingredients, including: pates, loafs, noodles, cakes, cookies, crackers, soups, salads and marinades.

The benefits of eating uncooked foods are numerous and varied. Here are just a few:

Almost without exception, people feel more energetic, more awake and healthier.

Most people experience weight loss, if needed, and look and feel younger and more vibrant.

What are Enzymes

Enzymes are proteins that speed up chemical reactions. Without enzymes, many important processes of life could not happen, including the digestion of food.

Under most conditions, enzymes are very resilient and can be used by the body more than once. But when food is heated, enzymes become irregular or denatured. A denatured enzyme’s ‘port’ changes shape and cannot receive the molecule intended for it. The enzyme’s damage is permanent.

Interestingly, every food has the exact combination of enzymes required to break it down for digestion or to return to the earth as compost- unless its enzymes have been destroyed by heat.

Heat changes the structure of the enzyme 'port' so that the needed molecule no longer fits- permanently.
