Whole Foods for Optimal Health
Whole foods are the key to our health, wellness and vitality.
They allow our bodies to perform as they were meant to.
When we eat living, unprocessed foods our entire being can operate in optimal
health mode. All of our cells, organs and systems are able to perform their
designated tasks in concert and with harmonious elegance.
What are whole foods?
They are foods that have had nothing added or removed. The strictest definition
would of course be an organically grown apple picked from the tree and eaten immediately.
If very much time elapses after picking, it begins to deteriorate, turn brown and lose
its nutritional value.
Most of the items sold as whole foods cannot meet these exacting criteria, and a
degree of compromise has been made. Fruit cannot usually be sold immediately after
picking, nor can flour be used to make bread without being ground.
So in a more general
definition, products sold as whole foods should be unprocessed and free of additives.
Using this definition, items like whole-wheat pasta, brown rice and milled oats can be
classified as whole foods. Generally speaking, because of this low level of processing
these foods contain more nutrients, vitamins and fiber than processed foods. This means whole foods are more nourishing, and healthier.
For optimal nutrition, most nutritionists agree that you should limit your consumption of
refined and processed foods. Choose natural, whole foods whenever possible. Focus your
diet on fresh fruits and vegetables, healthy fats and oils like flax and olive, lean
protein, and whole grains like brown rice and quinoa. As a general rule, avoid foods
that are frozen, boxed or canned.
Nourish your mind, body and spirit with whole foods!

Natural Organic Food
In today’s society – with an ever vigilant eye towards health consciousness – we are forever in search of those
factors that will give us the edge in achieving maximum health. As we’ve learned, a healthy diet, a consistent regime
of physical activity, and plenty of rest all has a profound impact on our overall vitality.
There is an ever growing number of people who swear by the benefits of natural, organic food.
Produced by organic farms, organic food is grown under strict government supervision. Under these guidelines,
organic produce is grown and packaged without the use of any chemicals or pesticides.
Traditionally grown, non-organic produce is subjected to a myriad of chemicals – most of which are have not been
studied thoroughly enough to understand their long-term effects on the human body. Researchers are
still undecided as to whether or not these chemicals can be linked to everything from food allergies to certain types of cancer. The benefit of organic food is they are not subjected to these potentially dangerous substances.
Meat and dairy produced under organic guidelines are also chemical free. Traditional agricultural farmers often subject
livestock to a bevy of chemical supplements designed to speed their growth and weight. Further, dairy cows are often
given chemicals to increase their milk production. Organic livestock are given only organic feed which is free of chemicals and contaminants.
Another benefit of organic food is its advantage to the environment. Traditionally grown produce are treated with
chemicals that make their way into the soil, changing the landscape and contaminating the ground and surrounding water
supplies. Conversely, natural organic food supports its environment responsibly, while growing delicious, nutritious food- a real win/win!
Essential to our immune function and various other systems of the body are enzymes, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants- all of which are abundant in organically grown food.
Making a commitment to organic food means making a commitment to your health and allows the chemical-free enjoyment of nutritional, natural food.
The ultimate combination, organic and raw foods, provides the absolute greatest energy gain and nourishment possible.
